Wouter is promoted as coordinator e-Government. He leads a team dedicated to the public service development of smart cities in the region South-West-Flanders and the Digital Region Kortrijk (DRK). Within the team front-end and back-end developers create smart services for local authorities. Leiedal performs analysis of geographical, economical and big data to build business intelligence for policy and administration. Digital communication is key to the development of a smart region.

Leiedal is an intermunicipal organisation working on urban development, immobiliary projects and e-government for 13 municipalities. At Leiedal, Wouter started as a staff member and project manager within the cluster e-goverment. He was responsible for multiple European projects and innovation in digital service delivery for local governments.

OpenBelgium.be is a network of people who want to see all kinds of knowledge open, used and useful in Belgium. To become an ambassador of Open Belgium, you need to play an active role in opening up Belgium. As the project manager of the European project Opening Up, Wouter was aknowledged for the results on the topic of Open Data for local governments by Deputy Prime Minister Alexander De Croo (Tweet).
Scientific researcher iMinds-SMIT

For almost 5 years Wouter performed academic research for the scientific institute Studies on Media, Information and Telecommunication connected to the VUB. Next to the education tasks for the faculty of communication, Wouter performed in-depth economic research, market analysis and feasibility studies on the topic of new media and ICT. Wouter developed an expertise in business model generation for innovative companies in a market transition. The nano-electronics research center, imec, and the digital research and incubation center, iMinds, have been merged into a unique high-tech R&D hub under the brand name imec.
